Karen Beranek

Current work, research and interests
Karen's work focuses on ensuring that high quality positive youth development programming happens in the southwest region as well as the state. She provides leadership on staff training and coaching, in using the quality assessment tool and reporting database.
Karen co-chairs the state citizenship & leadership team which includes programs such as the state and local Ambassadors, YELLO! and BLU, which provides opportunities for youth to learn, lead, and work as a team. She also connects with staff and counties directly in the role of supervisor.
Karen began working with the University of Minnesota Center for Youth Development in 2012, bringing with her eight years of Extension experience with South Dakota State University where she worked with the 4-H/Youth Development program specifically with youth teaching youth and youth leadership programs.
