Francisca Mendoza began working with University of Minnesota Extension in 2007 as an AmeriCorps VISTA member focusing on financial literacy. In July 2010, she transitioned to a paraprofessional position with the Extension Center for Family Development as a member of the Latino Financial Literacy Team. As a native Spanish speaker, Francisca provides classes and 1:1 education related to financial capability primarily with Latino adults and youth. She also networks and builds partnerships with service providers in McLeod County and surrounding areas.
Francisca completed some college coursework at Ridgewater College in Hutchinson, MN, and at Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, TX.
Areas of focus: financial education with low income participants, budgeting, credit and debt, savings planning, health insurance literacy, identity theft, organizing important papers, access to higher education
