Mary Jo Katras became program leader for Family Resiliency in 2015 after serving as a statewide Family Resiliency Extension educator since 2012 located in the metro area. Much of her work focuses on building financial capability for low-income individuals, families, and communities. Her work addresses needs at the individual, community, and policy levels through research, education, and outreach. Before joining Extension, Mary Jo was the coordinator of the Minnesota Financial Fitness Network and a lecturer in the Department of Family Social Science at the University of Minnesota. She was also a research associate for the Rural Families Speak project.
Mary Jo earned a master's degree in Sociology from Loyola University, Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota.
