Minnesota 4-H State Fair cell phone policy
Minnesota 4-H State Fair participants need to be aware of when cell phone and technology use are and are not appropriate. Cell phone use should be avoided at these times:
- During any judging activity. Participants need to respect other 4-H'ers by turning off all cell phones to avoid disturbance.
- In the dorm after lights-out hours, which includes talking on the phone and text messaging.
- During any shows or speakers that are presented by 4-H'ers or any other group. Cell phones should be off or on silent to avoid disturbance. Just use common courtesy. This is for participants and general public.
There will be certain consequences for disturbances. The participant will get a warning about the cell phone use. After one warning, the participant may lose their cell phone for the night or the remainder of judging and can pick it up the next morning or after judging. Any further consequences will depend on the severity of the incident and can include a spoken apology or a formal written apology. They will be handled on an individual basis and will be determined by appropriate staff.
