Paint Horse Essay Contest
Weanling Paint Horse donated by Jeff and Sheryl Pullin, owners of J Bars Horse Company, Luck, Wisc.
The University of Minnesota 4-H Youth Development Program along with Crowe’s Nest Quarter Horses announces the annual "Win A Paint" competition, open to all Minnesota 4-H members actively involved in the 4-H project.
The J Bars Horse Company have been breeding, training and showing paints and Quarter horses for over 20 years. They are a family operated business that has yielded huge results in the show ring. They now have specialized in halter horses but have many wins in the longe line and western pleasure. They have earned several ROMs and Superiors with their horses and strive for a horse that their complete family can show. They have earned points in youth, amateur and open events. They show at the Minnesota State Fair yearly and have several numbers of Grand Champions. Their horses come from generations of winners and they still carry the bloodlines that they began their business with. Hopefully the lucky winner will enjoy their horse as much as they have enjoyed their horses!
What would owning a paint horse mean to you? Submit a typed essay of one page maximum answering this question. Send your entry to Cathy or Jordon Giefer, Contest Coordinators between January 1 and September 4, 2015. Include a completed Consent and Release of Liability form. Incomplete entries will not be reviewed.
Entries will be blind-reviewed by a review committee, comprised of personnel from the donor and the Contest Coordinator will select five finalists. The five finalists will attend the "Win a Paint Horse" event at the 2015 Minnesota State Horse Show where they will each have a personal interview, after this the winner will be announced. The winner will take home the horse!
It is the expectation of the Contest Coordinator and the donor that the winner agrees to bring the properly cared for horse to the 2016 State 4-H Horse Show for exhibit and related special events. Previous winners are ineligible. The horse must be gelded in accordance with to the Minnesota 4-H Rulebook.
