4-H National Youth Science Day
4-H National Youth Science Experiment
October 9, 2013
Minnesota 4-H is proud to support leaders of local 4-H programs in the development in the 4-H National Youth Science Day (NYSD) on October 9, 2013. On that day many counties will host the sixth annual Science Experiment to spark an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
This year learners will experience 4-H Maps & Apps, a lesson designed by Colorado State University Extension.
Currently, more than five million young people across the nation participate in 4 H STEM programming in topics as varied as robotics, agricultural science, rocketry, wind power, environmental science and alternative energy.
To combat a national shortage of young people pursuing science college majors and occupations, and to enhance the nation's contribution to science, 4-H NYSD demonstrates that science, engineering, math and technology are fun and attainable options for college degrees and future careers.
