What your gifts support

Your gift will make an impact. Join us in our effort to keep 4-H strong throughout Minnesota.

Some of our top priorities for 2014 are:

Unrestricted Gifts

Unrestricted gifts help fund opportunities that come up unexpectedly, reward 4-H members that earn trips to state and national events and meet the most pressing needs of Minnesota 4-H.

Scholarship & Award Endowments

The 4-H Foundation holds nearly 30 endowment funds that support scholarships for exceptional 4-H’ers to attend college, or that fund awards and programming in communities across the state. Give to an existing endowment, or start a new fund. Highlights of what these gifts support:

Helping Hands Grants: We fund local programs and projects that young people want, and that require youth and adults to work together. Most grants are received by local 4-H clubs for amounts $200 to $2,000.

Opportunity Grants: We fund one-time exceptional new programming ideas, professional development programs for 4-H volunteers/staff, or activities that reach out to new and diverse youth.

Science of Agriculture

For more than 100 years, Minnesota 4-H has educated youth about agriculture. Now we’re pioneering exciting new programs to keep our ag education efforts vital and relevant.

Science, Engineering and Technology

Minnesota 4-H offers a multitude of programs to excite youth about careers in science. We engage 4-H’ers through robotics, engineering design, aquatic robotics, digital photography and more.

Arts-In Endowment

Arts-In is a 22-day experience for Minnesota 4-H’ers. Arts-In youth perform over 40 shows to 12,000 audience members at the State Fair. Youth learn about performing arts: singing, dancing, acting, instrumental accompaniment, costume design, set construction and technical work.

Harkness Endowment

This fund provides general operating support for the Minnesota 4-H Foundation. Additional gifts help us grow our development staff so that we may better serve Minnesota 4-H.

State 4-H Ambassador Endowment

State 4-H Ambassadors provide leadership to the BLU and YELLO youth leadership conferences, assists thousand of guests during the State Fair and support Minnesota 4-H at many other key activities throughout the year.

Citizenship & Leadership

4-H helps youth explore what it means to be an active citizen and leader in their community. Gifts support the popular BLU and YELLO youth leadership conferences.

Healthy Living

4-H’s Healthy Living project mobilizes volunteers to help young people be leaders in making healthy changes in their communities. Participating 4-H clubs establish Health Officers to promote fitness and nutrition and offer hands-on projects to teach youth to lead healthier, more active lives.

County 4-H Endowments

Nearly half of Minnesota’s 87 counties have county endowments that support local 4-H programs. Decisions on how to utilize county endowment proceeds are made at the local level, so giving to a county endowment directly supports the 4-H program in your local community.

Program Gifts

Support a specific local, regional or statewide program (examples: statewide dairy cattle programming, a local robotics team in your community, etc.). These types of gifts are distributed immediately to the 4-H program area you wish to support, and are not invested as part of an endowment.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts

If you have a relative or friend whose life has been touched by 4-H, consider making a gift in honor of that person.
