Former 4-H community program coordinator

Current work, research and interests

Kyra Paitrick PhotoKyra is the 4-H community program coordinator for American Indian youth programs in the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. She has a unique role: building and establishing new, culturally relevant 4-H programs to serve tribal youth. Kyra joined University of Minnesota Extension in July, 2015 and works out of the Cloquet regional office.

Prior to joining Extension, Kyra taught elementary school in the Cloquet Public School District for seven years, primarily as American Indian education teacher to grades K-5. She has has also volunteered in the Cloquet, Duluth and Fond du Lac Reservation communities as an Americorps literacy coach, Minnesota Master Naturalist and Wiigwaasi-Jiimaanikewin (birchbark canoe building) volunteer. She also completed the Blandin Community Leadership Program.
