Extension program leader, Youth Development
Current work, research and interests
Colleen Sanders provides leadership for the Center for Youth Development programs across the 15-county central region. Previously, Colleen worked with Minneapolis Public Schools Community Education, serving as manager of youth and adult enrichment programs. She has 14 years experience successfully leading the grant writing and implementation efforts for the federally funded 21st Century Learning Center grants, which served multiple sites. She also spearheaded the implementation of the Youth Program Quality Assessment process across all twenty-four afterschool sites.
Colleen serves in a leadership capacity for the City of Minneapolis' Youth Coordinating Board. She provides leadership and support for a collective impact project bringing all public jurisdictions to champion the health and well-being of all children in Minneapolis. She also serves on the strategic leadership team for Ignite Afterschool - Minnesota's statewide network dedicated to advancing high-quality afterschool and summer learning programs for all youth.
Colleen currently focuses her work on systemic organizational development and works with staff to identify areas of opportunity to build quality learning experiences for youth.
