Current work, research and interests

Amber Shanahan has been with University of Minnesota Extension since August 2012 as a part of the state staff development team and also leads the 4-H Youth Teaching Youth team. She works closely with 4-H programs in Washington, Dakota, and Carver Counties. Her academic focus is on cross-age teaching and her current research focuses on ways that cross-age teaching programs support social and emotional learning. She also contributed to the Youth Teaching Youth Teen Teachers report.

Prior to Minnesota Extension, Amber worked with youth outdoor education programming with both The Chill Foundation in Chicago, Illinois and Burlington, Vermont and Aspen Youth Experience in Aspen, Colorado.
