Netwinged beetle Appearance:

Most species are between 1/2 - 3/4 inch long.   Their wings covers are somewhat fan-shaped with conspicuous, raised veins running through them.

Where/When: Typically found in wooded areas on leaves or tree trunks.   Active during summer.
Significance: Feeds on juices of decaying plant material and occasionally on other insects.   Larvae feed on a variety of soft-bodied insects as well as snails and slugs.
