Orchid Anthracnose ANTHRACNOSE OF ORCHID Anthracnose is one of the most common diseases of foliage plants and can affect many different plants.


Symptoms: Tan to dark brown, roughly circular lesions at wounds or leaf margins. Lesions may coalesce quickly to form large necrotic areas that may contain small black fungal structures.

General Information
Causal organism: Colletotrichum & Glomerella spp.
Method of dispersal: On air currents or water splashes
Infection point: Leaves, usually through wounds

Control Measures
Control: Isolate diseased plants. Prune out affected leaves, if possible, dipping scissors or knife in 10% bleach solution after each cut.
