Workshop Choices

A. Pants Fitting Techniques by LaVern Bell - Learn how to take appropriate measurements for pants, select the "best" pattern size, identify body style and pattern needs, and make common pattern adjustments. When your pants/slacks fit well, you feel more comfortable.

B. Chenille Collar and Cuffs by Vicky Jo Bogart - Turn an ordinary sweatshirt into a classy jacket with chenille collar and cuffs. Use purchased or recycled chenille fabric or create your own chenille. Come and see how it is done and what to avoid. All levels. No enrollment limit.

C. Hooked Acorn by Vicky Jo Bogart - Using felted wool and a loop stitch, you can learn traditional rug hooking and make an acorn coaster. All levels. Limit 25. Kit fee $6.50 includes foundation fabric, wool and pattern. Bring your basic sewing kit, rug hooking frame* or 6-inch embroidery hoop*, scissors, primitive rug hook*.
*Hooks and rug hooking frames will be available for purchase.

D. Take-It-Along Sewing Pouch by Vicky Jo Bogart - Use wool/felt, felted wool or craft felt to fashion a fold-up portable traveling sewing kit. Learn about felting wool, construction tips and design ideas. Great for yourself or for that special sewing friend. All levels.

E. Downloading Machine Embroidery Designs by Janelle Coy - Take the mystery out of the Internet and downloading embroidery designs. See how to locate, download and convert designs for your personal "stash". Receive Janelle's top ten web sites.

F. Embroidery Stabilizers by Janelle Coy - Learn how important stabilizers are when doing machine embroidery. The weight of the fabric and the amount of stabilizer used will be the key to a successful design on that sweatshirt, blouse or denim jacket.

G. Selecting Special Occasion Fabrics by Marie Duncan - Special occasions coming up? wedding, cruise, prom, etc. Which fabric do you choose? What color? What style? Learn how these items can flatter any figure. Learn techniques need to make that special gown successful.

H. Special Occasion Handbag by Marie Duncan- Begin constructing a handbag that will compliment that special occasion gown. Learn how to construct, embellish and personalize this bag. Also can resize and create for any occasion. Kit fee $6.00 includes all fabric needed.

I. Foot Works by Geri Haug - Do you know what your machine is capable of doing because of the different feet? Geri will show you designs and techniques you never knew you could do on your machine. The design can be so much simpler and easier when using the appropriate foot.

J. Nifty Notions by Geri Haug - Come and check out some of the 2003 tools in the sewing industry. These tools can help make your sewing easier and give you more professional results.

K. Machine Piecing 101 by Sarah Hayden - Learn the basics of machine piecing in this great beginners quilting class. You will learn how to select fabric and patterns, basic stitches, types of threads, cutting equipment, the secrets of pressing and many more tips for beginning quilting. No equipment necessary.

L. Embroidery is Back Katie Hennagir - Learn the basics of embroidery as you begin to stitch a small project. You will learn basic embroidery stitches, transferring patterns and how to finish projects. Kit fee $10.00 includes fabric, pattern, hoop, floss, needles and marking pen.

M. Patchwork Jacket Workshop by Glenice Johsnon - Create your own "crazy quilt" jacekt, using a sweatshirt as a base. Bring the following: sewing machine, pre-washed sweatshirt--1 size larger than usual (may be 'recycled'), fabric for patches (cotton or cotton-blends; scraps or new, color-coordinated material), 6 to 10 different fabrics, approximately 1/3 to 1/2 yard of each; thread to blend or accent fabrics; scissors.

N. Fun with Fleece by Jeanne Johnson - We have put together our favorite tips, techniques and over twenty FREE project ideas for you to use while working with our fabulous fleece fabrics. Fleece is a great comfort fabric that can be used year-round in most areas of the country. Projects include home decorating, baby items, gift ideas, team spirt fund raising ideas and so much more! Some include NO SEW.

O. Shadow Chenille--(Beginners) by Sandy Kalvig - Faux chenille with a "twist"! Learn the basics of making a chenille placemat with shadow applique for a dimensional look. Participants need to bring sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, cream colored thread. Kit (includes all fabric needed) fee of $8.00.

P. Twin Needle-Itis by Dawn Kraayenbrink - Yes! It is contagious! Twin needles come in various sizes and types. Learn what twin needle to use and how to adjust your machine for pintucks, topstitching, decorative work, stained glass and more.

Q. Machine Quilting with Decorative Threads by Dawn Kraayenbrink - This is a hands-on class. Bring your sewing machine, two 18-inch squares of muslin and one 18-inch square of Warm and Natural Batting. We will play with a variety of decorative threadss. Learn an easy technique for decorative thread quilting and try your hand at scribble stitching. Thread kit fee $5.00

R. Revolutionzie Your Sewing by JoAnn Krause - With JoAnn’s common sense approach, learn dozens of creative redesigning techniques that can be applied to blouses, jackets, skirts and pants. Move your pattern on the fabric to create capes, yokes, overlays and unique collars. You will see demonstrations on lining jackets with industrial techniques--NO HANDWORK! S. Sewing Casual Wear for Children and Adults by JoAnn Krause - This unique seminar will motivate you to stretch your imagination using knits and woven fabrics to create your families entire wardrobe. A variety of necklines, embellishments, overlays, appliques, decorative top stitching and twin needle work for shirts and jackets. T. Serger Savvy by JoAnn Krause - This exciting class is for prospective buyers and serger owners. Lets make the most of these accessories and troubleshooting--techniques showing elastic applications and edgings. Demonstrations on corners, lettuce edging, scalloped edge, hems, bindings and ruffles. Learn easy and fun shortcuts on making lingerie, swimwear and accessories for home decor and clothing. U. Confetti Fabric by Barb Kuklok - Create your own fabric with yarns, threads and scraps of fabric. Fun and easy! Bring a one gallon ziploc bag of coordinating fabric scraps and yarns or threads, 18-inch by 18-inch Solvy. Kit fee $15.00 includes the background fabric, bonding agent (enough for several projects) and the nonstick ironing sheet.

V. Fun with Applque by Barb Kuklok - Create your own applique design! Learn technqiues needed to make a neat denim shirt (or sweatshirt) which are so popular today. Personalize your creation with your own colors/prints. Bring 6-inch by 8-inch squares of coordinating scrap fabrics, sewing machine, matching thread and sewing supplies. Kit fee $3.00 includes stabilizer, pattern and fusible web.

W. Outerwear Update by Linda MacPhee - Every year there are yet more new fabrics on the market. Learn the tricks of the trade in sewing Slinky and the latest version--beaded slinky Linda MacPhee will guide you through all the hot newcomers like alligator, laser cut velour, eyelash, leather, pleather, buttersueded, python, faux furs, etc.--what patterns to use, all the quick and easy sewing techniques. Update your wardrobe--update your life!

X. Garment Embellishing and Surface Design by Lisa Mandell - Add dimension and texture to your garments using a variety of artistic techniques. Couching with decorative threads, painting, stenciling and decorative stitching will be featured in this class. You will become familiar with the tools and techniques to use to add an artistic flare to your fashion sewing.

Y. Let's Make Quilted Bags by Deb Sly - Use your rotary cutter, mat and basic sewing techniques to make a variety of quilted bags. This class will provide hints for making decorative bags that could be used for holidays, gifts and other occasions.

Z. Gift Ideas by Marcia Woeste - Need ideas for that person who has everything? This session will give ideas of neat and clever gifts that can be made: bags, placemats, coasters and much more.
