February 22, 2003 Presenters
A. LaVern Bell - owned and operated a sewing studio in the
Minneapolis warehouse district. She is president of the Twin
Cities American Sewing Guild, on the advisory board of the
Minneapolis Techincal and Community College Apparel Design and
Services Program.
B., C., D. Vicky Jo Bogart - of Fargo, North Dakota, teaches nationally
and regionally. She founded HandWorks Cottage Industries, a
vocational rehabilitation program focusing on establishing home-
based businesses for people with disabilities. She also curates
and exhibits in regional galleries.
E., F. Janelle Coy - is an employee of the St. Cloud Sewing
Center. Her prime responsibility is working with the computerized
and embroidery machines.
G., H. Marie Duncan - owner and operator of "Custom Bridal
Service", Osakis, Minnesota. She has 22 years of experience sewing
bridal and specialty garments. Her business includes bridal,
prom, alterations and professional clothing.
I., J. Geri Haug - has BS in Home Economics Education and
experience in teaching community education and adult education in
the St. Cloud area. She has taught machine and sewing techniques
on the retail level for almost 20 years.
K. Sarah Hayden - owns and operates Bay Window
Quilt Shop in Perham. She teaches quilt class and collaborates
with other quilt shops for events and activities.
L. Katie Hennagir - designer of quilt patterns as well as
teaches quilt and stitchery classes. She works at Bay Window Quilt
Shoip where she is involved in purchasing as well as sales.
M. Glenice Johnson - is an avid seamstress from Thief River
Falls. She is an Extension Educator in Northern Minnesota
and enjoys designing clothing for professional and fun
wear.
N. Jeanne Johnson – is the District Home Economist
with Hancock Fabrics. She has held this position since
August 1, 1990. Her main job requirement is the education
of their consumers. She also trains employees on new
products, design and test new ideas for their annual Holiday
Craft Showing and input the decisions on fabrics and products
they carry in their district's stores.
O. Sandy Kalvig - of Blackduck has taught for ten
years. She holds Quilt-In-A-Day classes and teaches for
Willow Wood Quilt Shop. Sandy also has a machine embroidery
business.
P., Q. Dawn Kraayenbrink – is the manager of Associated
Sewing in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She loves sewing--anything
from garments to kitchen curtains!--and especially enjoys
teaching classes and encouraging others to be creative with
their sewing skills.
R., S., T. JoAnn Krause - owner of JK Originals has been
an instructor/sewing specialist for over 30 years. Her unique
seminars provide quick and simple industrial construction
techniques to cut your sewing time in half while giving a
professional finish.
U., V. Barb Kuklok - learned to sew at age 8 on a treadle
machine making doll clothes; this began her love for sewing.
Barb teaches at Associated Sewing in St. Cloud and enjoys
inspiring others to love the ART of sewing.
W. Linda MacPhee - B.Sc. in Home Economics and is well
known across Canada and the United States as an innovator in
the clothing design and home sewing industries. She is co-
founder of MacPhee Workshop, one of Canada's largest design
houses and pattern manufacturers.
X. Lisa Mandell - owner of Stretch and Sew Fabrics in
Bloomington. Lisa is an avid seamstress and instructor.
Her shop fosters home sewing by sewing clubs and classes.
Y. Deb Sly - is a seamstress who sews for her family as
well as local quilt shops. She sews quilts as well as
garments and is employed at the Bay Window Quilt Shop in
Perham.
Z. Marcia Woeste - Regional Extension Educator.
Marcia has multiple talents and interests in the sewing
and craft fields. She always enjoys learning new technique and
sharing with others.
