Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center -- Youth Energy Summit!(YES!) Data Collection Project (2010)
The Center for Small Towns staff and a UMM student to assist with the project design, collecting and compiling data to support the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center in reviewing and evaluating their Youth Energy Summit! (YES!) program.
- CST staff assisted the YES! program coordinator and others with designing the data collection project; hiring, supervising and housing a UMM student;
- The UMM student assisted with scanning through reports and surveys to collect and document key data, aggregating/analyzing the data, compiling into usable formats. Student work took place at the Center for Small Towns with assignments from the ELC program coordinator and guidance from professional evaluator.
Two electronic documents were generated:
- YES ! Template - the data compilation tool. 26 columns and 48 rows of information collected from various sources
- YES ! Themes - 9 page document with snippets of priority information extracted from the Template
There was benefit in generating ideas about the process and ways to format the data. The student work was housed at the Center for Small Towns which was convenient for the student and minimized workspace demands at PWELC. The face to face meetings and weekly conference calls were satisfactory.
UMM Center for Small Towns $1700.00
