Earl Ellens Park and Riverside Arena Development


To create a community multi-purpose area and building at the entrance of the city that will enhance the natural beauty of the site and is an operational model that is economically sustainable for the City of Moose Lake.


University of Minnesota partners: Northeast Regional Sustainable Development Partnership Center for sustainable buildings UMD Labovitz School of Business Bureau of Business and Economic Research
Community partners: Earl Ellens Park Development Committee School City of Moose Lake DNR Hockey Association Farmers Market Benefactors including Great River Energy and Mercy Hospital.


Community groups and participation. Multiple grants and fundraising. Energy improvements to existing structures. Clean-up of site, painting of buildings by volunteers.


A more appealing site and interior of building. A more energy efficient building. More community ownership of the area.
