Wolf Ridge Organic Farm

Purpose

Establish an agricultural production system that will supply healthy organic and affordable food and educational 'food' curriculum for Wolf Ridge ELC.

Partners

UM Northeast Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, UM Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture, North House Folk School, Organic Consumers association, National Resources Conservation Service, Clean Energy Resources Teams, University of Minnesota - Duluth, Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center.

Activities

Established a shelter/classroom space, acquired materials for hands on teaching /learning experience of the food and farming curriculum, and secured a vegetable cleaning system run by pedal power.

Outcomes

The capacity has been built to provide vegetables for over 140,000 meals served in the Wolf Ridge dining hall. Beyond food production, the farm holds 4-6 classes per week for visiting schools and others.
