FARRMS
FARRMS mission is to further the sustainability of thriving farms and rural communities. FARRMS establishes links between people, good food, living farms and the environment through hands-on educational experiences and mentoring. FARRMS also makes grants and loans for sustainability growing projects, communities with sustainability projects for low-income people, and growers transitioning to organic.

Local Foods Initiatives
North Dakota Department of Agriculture
The North Dakota Department of Agriculture has helped grow ND’s local food movement through the Local Foods Initiative since 2008. Several programs offered through the Initiative include the Hunger Free ND Garden Project and a program to start a community orchard in ND.

Hunger Free ND Garden Project

The Hunger Free ND Garden Project is the result of a coalition between ND government, academic, nonprofits, and community groups. The project is encouraging farmers and gardeners to plant an extra acre or row of produce and donate fresh fruits and vegetable to food pantries, soup kitchens, and other charitable community programs. 

Northern Plains Sustainable Agriculture Society
This site promotes sustainable food systems through education, research and advocacy. NPSAS’s membership is primarily located in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana, as well as neighboring states of Iowa, Wyoming, and Nebraska.

Pride of Dakota
Affiliated with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, this state-sponsored branding program consolidates and promotes local foods, crafts, and other products. The website provides information on Pride of Dakota goods, retailers, and instruction on how to become a Pride of Dakota member.
