BRANCH CANKER
(Occurs frequently)
Diamond shaped or elliptical cankers develop on the branches. Large amounts of resin exude from cankers. (The whitish cast is dried resin)

DIEBACK OR DROUGHT-LIKE SYMPTOMS
(Occurs frequently)
Dieback of individual branches in the crown.

TIP BLIGHT
(Occurs infrequently)
Shoot death and needle loss occur on the ends of random branches. Dead shoots may curl downward.

ABNORMAL GROWTH (WITCHES' BROOM)
(Occurs infrequently)
Abnormal branch growth causes the formation of witches' brooms. Small, brown parasitic seed plants, resembling enlarged buds, form on the branches.
