BROWNING NEEDLES ON ENTIRE OR OUTER PORTION OF BRANCH
(Occurs frequently)
Needles brown and eventually drop from the tree, leaving entire branches bare.

NEEDLE CAST, INNER PORTION OF BRANCH  
(Occurs frequently)

Yellowing, browning, then dropping of inner needles on lower branches, leaving green growth at the tips.

NEEDLE CAST, BRANCH TIPS ONLY
(Occurs infrequently)
Needles at the branch tips turn brown and drop from the tree. The shoot also dies.

NEEDLE CAST, BROWN INNER NEEDLES WITH BLACK BANDS
(Occurs occasionally)
Black, elongate bands occur on inner needles. Infected needles remain attached until weathered off.
