Phytophthora of Peony PEONY               PHYTOPHTHORA BLIGHT Phytophthora blight, or tip blight, affects the stems, buds, and leaves of peony. It may be confused with Botrytis blight, but unlike Botrytis it does not produce fuzzy fungal spores in wet conditions.


Symptoms: Spots on leaves. Entire shoot may turn black and die. Cankers develop along stem. Stem may fall over. Wet rot at crown.

Control Measures
Control: Remove infected plants including adjacent soil. Plant healthy plants in new locations with well-drained soil.
