Hosta Viruses HOSTA                    VIRUSES Viruses on hostas mainly affect the leaves. There are several different viruses on hostas, causing varying symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms are mosaic, line, or ring patterns on the leaves, dwarfing, leaf curling.

Over wintering: In plant material

Method of dispersal: Propagation and grafting, rarely vectored by insects or nematodes
Infection point: Leaves & stems

Control Measures
Control: Purchase disease-free plants. Remove virus infected plants.
Labeled fungicides None
Comments: Virus-infected hosta may grow and bloom normally. If infection is severe, plant should be removed and discarded. Laboratory testing is necessary for confirmation of viral infections.
