Size 1/8 inch long (unengorged adult female; males and immatures are smaller)
Where/When Dogs are the primary host. Can be found year-round on dogs in heated kennels or homes. Will reproduce in homes and may be found on carpeting, furniture, draperies, and walls.
Significance Nuisance by its presence and by bites inflicted on dogs. May occasionally bite people. Not a known vector of disease in Minnesota.
