| Where/When | It is found generally in the southern and southwestern U.S. Does not occur in Minnesota. Has rarely been transported into Minnesota, generally on produce, such as grapes. It builds an irregular-shaped web and prefers secluded, protected areas. Outdoors, it is found in dense plant growth, logs, boards, firewood piles and other debris. Indoors, it is found in boxes, under furniture, crawl spaces and in any area with clutter. | |
| Significance | Should be considered a dangerous spider. Can bite humans, injecting a type of neurotoxin venom which is often accompanied with intense pain. | |
