| Significance | Generally not a problem in most years. Chews leaves, pods, and other plant parts. Potential to defoliate plants when populations are high. Most likely a problem in late summer when other food sources are scarce. Prolonged dry springs over several years can significantly increase grasshopper numbers. | |
