Size: Up to 1/3 inch long
When/Where: Found on plants in many types of environments, including gardens, landscape plants, and agricultural fields. Active from spring through summer.
Significance: An important natural control agent. It feeds primarily on aphids. Can also feed on scale crawlers, thrips, leafhoppers, and other small, soft-bodied insects, caterpillar eggs, and spider mites.
