Beetles, Bugs and Insects without Obvious Wings

Checkered Beetle Appearance: Many species are about 1/4 inch long or less.   Many are brightly colored with ornate patterns on their wing covers.
Where/When: They are found on flowers and on or under tree bark in wooded areas and adjacent sites.   Active from spring through summer.
Significance: Adults feed on adult bark beetles.   Larvae feed on bark beetle and longhorned beetle eggs, larvae, and adults.
