Private Certification

For all applicators who apply restricted use pesticides to their own land or sites for the production of agricultural commodities.

Certification and Exams

• All 2009 recertification workshops were held in January and February.
• 2009 Private Applicator Certification Online exam for new certification and recertification – Exams must be completed no later than October 31, 2009.
• Mail-in exam for new certification and recertification – Test packets and manuals are available at most local Extension offices. 2009 Exams must be post marked no later than October 31, 2009.
• Private Pesticide Applicator Certification – Administered by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and University of Minnesota Extension.
• Private Pesticide Applicator Search – MN Dept. of Ag – Check your private certification status.

Study Manuals and Materials

• Private Pesticide Applicator Manual — You may use any version of the 18th edition of the study manual for the 2009 mail-in or online tests.
• Private Stored Grain Fumigation Manual — Farmers and other private applicators are required to have the Private Applicator Fumigation on their Private Applicator Certification to purchase and apply fumigants. The Private Applicator Fumigation Endorsement fact sheet (32 K PDF) is also online.
