1. Use the Anoka County Fair 4-H Premium Book, 2024 to help you decide what projects to exhibit and to ensure you are clear on all guidelines for each area. This guide will help you prepare to participate in Anoka County 4-H at the County Fair. There are suggestions for project ideas and in some cases, guidelines on what components a project must have. Please read carefully and contact staff if you have questions about where a project should be exhibited.
2. To register for 4-H at the county fair using FairEntry, each youth must be enrolled as an active 4-H member and you must know your 4-H Online family login (email address and password).  You use the same log in information for BOTH systems. If you do not know your 4-H Online log in information, follow the prompts to have your password reset. DO NOT attempt to create a new profile. If you have trouble, please contact Kim Ferguson or Natalie Peterson at the 4-H office for help..  
3. Submit your fair registration on FairEntry by Monday, June 24. This includes both exhibit building and animal entries.

• You will register for ALL classes for projects you plan to bring to the showcase event/fair. 
• Exhibit areas are a two-project limit unless noted.
• You will be judged in age categories according to your grade level completed: grades 9 and up, grades 6-8, grades 3-5, Cloverbuds (Grades K-2)
• Missing the June 26 deadline may jeopardize your eligibility for Champion, Reserve Champion, Merit awards, or State Fair trips.
• 4-H club leaders will complete a separate registration (updated link will be posted soon) for all club projects. Limited to one entry, per category.

4-H members, parents and screened volunteers may purchase a reduced rate weekly fair admission which will allow entrance to the fairgrounds during the week of the fair. This process is similar to 2023 except there are no additional fees in 2024 except a $2.25 once per transaction processing fee.  You pay only $2.25 regardless of the number of passes you purchase on your transaction. Adult weekly passes cost $30 each and youth weekly passes cost $15 per 4-H’er. 

Registered Anoka 4-H families and screened 4-H volunteers will receive direct emails regarding instructions and a secure link to purchase your weekly pass ONLINE in July directly through the Anoka County Fair. Each person will receive a unique QR code that can be scanned once daily during the fair week. Families can come and go during the day but must get a stamp at the gate before exiting. Passes will be available to purchase for 4-H families as pre-sale through Monday, July 22 at 11:59 of the fair only.

Standard daily ticket prices through the Anoka County Fair: Adults- $15, Kids (6-12) - $10, & Age 5 and under - Free

On May 15, Animal ID’s are due for beef, dairy, dairy goat, dog, horse, llama-alpaca, meat goat, poultry, rabbit, sheep and swine. This means, you have secured any tags needed from the 4-H office and entered your information in 4-H Online by this date.  All 4-H livestock (excluding market beef) must be identified by the statewide May 15 ID deadline. This is a firm deadline.

Exhibiting in the horse project at the County Fair is a large commitment with many moving parts. Please be sure to read the Anoka County 4-H Horse Handbook & complete the stalling and camping forms by Monday, June 26. Please ask questions of the horse committee members when needed. Contact information is included in the handbook.

Open Arenas The Anoka County Horse Committee hosts “Open Arena” clinics at the Anoka County Fairgrounds designed to be informative for both the new and more experienced horse/rider.

Food Revue is an opportunity for a 4-H member to create a menu and place setting and have a conference judging experience about their “meal”. You will sign up for a 15-minute judging slot ahead of time. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your judging time to set up your place setting and check in. You will be able to take your place setting with you after you are done judging and your picture is taken.

Public Presentations are an opportunity to practice public speaking skills, share your knowledge, and compete for a State Fair trip. This event will be held Monday, June 24. All youth in grades 6 and up can advance to the State Fair. Any exhibitors who advance to the State Fair will receive a $30 cash award.

The Anoka County 4-H Fashion Revue consists of two events—the evaluation night on Monday, July 8 and the public fashion show at the Anoka County Fair. 4-H Fashion Revue allows youth the opportunity to demonstrate what they've learned about clothing construction, consumerism, appearance, grooming habits, clothing selections, and more.

The categories for this event are:

• Fashion Revue- Constructed Clothing
• Fashion Revue- Purchased Clothing
• Fashion Revue- Upcycled Clothing

Fashion Revue is:

• An opportunity to demonstrate skills and knowledge of clothing and textile construction and consumerism.
• A reflection of the fashion trends of young people.
• A learning experience in dressing and grooming for the “total” look.
• An educational experience for learning to project confidence, enthusiasm, and poise.

County Arts-In is a summer performing arts/leadership experience for youth that have completed grades 2 – one year post high school. Singing, dancing, and acting, plus leadership and team building activities all culminate in a 30-minute musical revue that is performed during the Anoka County Fair and the Minnesota State Fair. Youth that have completed grade 6 or higher have many opportunities to provide leadership in the program. The show is performed during the week of the Anoka County Fair.
