Riverside Central Elementary School, Rochester, MN

Riverside Central Elementary School is a Title 1 School-wide Project that includes all day, every day kindergarten, 1st through 5th grade, and two Primary Newcomers centers. Riverside Central is one of the sites of the Rochester Hand in Hand Program. The student population at Riverside Central is approximately 515 with 68.2 percent of the students eligible for free and reduced lunch. Fifty-two percent of the student population is from a diverse background, thirteen various languages besides English are spoken within Riverside Central Elementary. The student population at Riverside changes frequently. During the 2000-2001 school year, Riverside Central School had a 47% turnover rate. All Riverside Central students are eligible for math and reading services. Students at Riverside are seeking positive out of school activities and opportunities to share about their culture and learn about other cultures. This will be the focal point of this site's program.
