Frogtown Neighborhood, St. Paul, MN

Frogtown neighborhood is located just west of the Minnesota State Capitol and is known as the heart of St. Paul. Frogtown and St. Paul have gone through dramatic changes over the last 10 years. It has become younger, poorer, more diverse, and less safe.Total population is 14,540 with a racial make up of:

49.7% White  
26.6% Asian American
17.9% African American
4.7% Hispanic/Latino
3% American Indian
2.8% Other

In the age range of 0-18 years, the racial make up is 91% Asian American. The median income of Frogtown is $16,645, which is about $10,000 less than the city of St. Paul's median income of $26,498. Despite the negative perception, Frogtown has a strong commitment of community agencies, business, and citizens who work together to take the Frogtown neighborhood to a different level. Residents of the Frogtown community expressed their interest in providing positive opportunities for their youth to participate and opportunities for them to contribute to heir community, which has become the focal point for this site.
