The University of Minnesota is pleased to host this year's Mini Land Grant meeting.
The meeting will take place at the Hilton Hotel located near the Mall of America, Mpls/St. Paul Airport and Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge.
The conference will consist of a reception, two general sessions, concurrent break out sessions and a trip to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and University of Minnesota Horticultural Research Center for a tour and dinner.
Increasing numbers of communities and institutions are actively discussing how the American food system influences human health. The shared vision for this rapidly growing movement reflects a commitment to vital rural communities, healthy landscapes and people, a robust food culture, and agriculture that is more regionally based and sustainable. Described by the New York Times as βthe issue of this generation,β the momentum to regionalize our food system has never been greater.
The land grant university β the very institution established to meet the needs of the American food system β is well-positioned to offer research and practical support. This conference brings together national experts, university research faculty and community partners to discuss novel models and methodologies for meeting public needs associated with improving our food system and, in turn, human health.
