Setting your screen resolution

Your screen resolution determines how much information you see on the screen and how large the information appears. Your screen may be set to 640 by 480 pixels by default, but WebCT is designed for 800 by 600 pixels. For best success in using WebCT, set your screen resolution to 800 by 600 or higher.

Below you'll find step-by-step instructions on how to set your screen resolution in Windows 95, Windows 98, Mac OS 8, and Mac OS 7.5.5.

Setting your resolution in Windows 95

  1. On your desktop, click with your right mouse button.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. From the top, click the Settings tab.
  4. Move the Desktop Area lever to 800 by 600 pixels or higher.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Again, click OK.
  7. Click Yes.

Setting your resolution in Windows 98

  1. On your desktop, click with your right mouse button.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. From the top, click the Settings tab.
  4. Move the Desktop Screen area lever to 1024 by 768 pixels or higher.
  5. Click OK

Setting your resolution on Macintosh OS 8

  1. From the apple menu (in the top left corner of your screen), select Control Panels then select Monitors and Sound.
  2. Click 800x600 pixels or higher.
  3. Close the Monitors and Sound window.

Setting your resolution on Macintosh OS 7.5.5

  1. From the apple menu (in the top left corner of your screen), select Control Panels then select Monitors.
  2. Click Options
  3. Click 800x600 pixels or higher.
  4. Click OKAY
  5. Close the Monitors window.
