• Lawns and landscape beds
• Does well in nutrient-poor and drought prone soil (sandy soil)

Characteristics:

• Low growing, mat-forming annual
• Stems are reddish in color and covered with tiny hairs
• Leaves are tear-drop shaped with smooth edges (margins), arise in pairs (opposite one another) along stem
• Leaf center may have a reddish spot
• Stems and leaves exude a white milky sap (latex) when broken
• Flowers are tiny, pinkish-white and difficult to see
• Shallow taproot
