Found in:
- Lawns and landscape beds
- Grows in cool moist soils in sun and shade
Characteristics:
- Low growing perennial; often forms a dense mat in lawns
- Can grow to 1’ in height in landscape beds
- Remains green year round
- Stems and leaves are covered with tiny hairs
- Leaves are oval with smooth edges, arise in pairs (opposite one another) along stem
- Small, white flowers at the end of the stems have 5 deeply lobed petals appearing like 10 separate flower petals
- Spreads by rooting at the stem nodes (joints) and by seed
