Found in:
- Lawns and landscape beds
- Common in low maintenance areas
Characteristics:
- Annual or biennial growing 4-12” tall
- Short hairs are present on stems and upper and lower leaf surfaces
- Leaves are crinkly, round to kidney shaped with finely toothed edges (margins), arise alternately along stem
- Flowers are white with purple tinge, 5-petaled, occur May to Oct.
- Taprooted along with coarsely branched shallower root system
Significance:
- Roots can form from fragmented stem pieces left in the soil
