- Thrives in cool moist soil
Characteristics:
- Annual or biennial that grows 3–15” tall
- Plants are aromatic (minty) when crushed
- Stems are square, nearly hairless with an upturning tip
- Leaves are rounded with a scalloped edge, arise opposite along stem
- Pink to violet, tube-like flowers occur in early spring, sometimes in fall
- Fibrous roots are shallow
- Does not root from each stem node (joint) like creeping Charlie
