  • Leaves yellow prematurely or appear scorched along the margins and between the veins
  • All leaves may completely die and fall from cane in late summer
  • Brick red to brown discoloration can be seen inside the cane at the soil line if the bark is peeled off, and roots are red-brown
  • Plants continue to decline throughout the summer, and new canes and nearby plants become infected
  • Common in heavy, poorly drained soils
