Marssonina leaf spot
Marssonina thomasiana

  • Small, purplish red spots with a cream colored center on leaves and young branches
  • Severely infected leaves may turn yellow to red and drop
  • In severe infections, spots may grow together and girdle young shoots
  • Most common on Eastern wahoo (Euonymus atropurpurea)

Powdery mildew
Oidium euonymi-japonici

  • White to gray fungal growth on upper leaf surface; may form a thick felt
  • Leaves may yellow and drop prematurely
  • Young shoots may be curled and twisted
  • Entire shrub may appear gray or discolored
