The state of Minnesota requires that all food service establishments have one person certified as a food manager. The Food Manager’s Certification class includes information about food preparation, handling, sanitation and prevention of food borne illness. When eating out in Minnesota, you can be more comfortable knowing that the University of Minnesota Extension Service is working to keep your food safe.
Take the Food Manager’s Certification course on-line. Work at your own rate, day or night without sitting in a day long course!
Audience
The course is recommended for personnel in restaurants, grocery store delis, resort and hotel kitchens and other foodservice establishments. Courses satisfy the education requirement for Food Manager Certification.

However, the final exam must be taken in person. The exam is given the second Wednesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. Locations include Brainerd, Caledonia, Grand Marais, Marshall, Hallock, St. Cloud, Mankato and St. Paul. Contact Connie Schwartau for other available sites.
