Local Food Systems

Local food systems provide fresh food and keep money circulating within the local economy. The Introduction to Local Food, provides general resources, defines local food, and discusses economic benefits of local food. To get involved in your community, use the Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Compass. There one can learn about how USDA supports local and regional food economies, see communities putting these resources to work, and explore the map to find out what's happening nearby.
