Wild Rice

Nothing says “Minnesota” like wild rice!

  • Wild rice is the Minnesota state grain. It is called manoomin in the Anishinaabe (Ojibway) language, and has been a staple food for Anishinaabeg people for centuries.
  • Wild rice is a natural food with no additives and no preservatives. It is considered a whole grain, and contains high quality protein and fiber but is very low in fat.
  • The slightly sweet-tasting, nutty-textured grain is very versatile and flavorful, and is preferred by top chefs.
