Cabbage

Cabbage is a nutrition powerhouse.

  • Cabbage originated as a crop more than 8000 years ago in northern China.
  • Cabbage is grown at the University of Minnesota's Southern Research and Outreach Station in Waseca, MN as part of a study to look at the medical uses of natural plant chemicals in the cabbage.
  • Cabbage (along with broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, rutabagas, and turnips) is a member of the cruciferous family, a group of vegetables named for their cross-shaped flowers.
