Educational Offerings

Extension Educators, in partnership with other organizations, provide the following educational offerings:

Hands on Banking teacher workshop — Innovative and entertaining tools teach money management. The self-paced program is available free online, on CD-ROM, and in print. It is available in both English and Spanish.

High School Financial Planning Program (HSFFP) — A six unit program, developed by the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE)®, teaches teens personal management goals, budgeting, tracking income and spending, credit, insurance, and the time value of money.

Financial Fitness for Life — A curriculum, developed by the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE), helps students apply economic concepts and decision-making skills to the real world of earning, spending, saving, credit, and managing money.

Learning, Earning & Investing — A curriculum also by NCEE, is a comprehensive investment education which introduces students to the ins-and-outs of long-term investing, including a critical look at investment opportunities — mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and more — and uncovers strategies for building lasting wealth.

Managing College Life: Your Money, Your Housing, Your Future — Four educational workshops for college students address issues of credit and debt, identity theft, financial literacy and tenant education. Each topic can be taught in a 1-hour workshop or combined with others to customize workshops for college students.

4-H Consumer Decision Making — 4-H members learn how to compare prices, make wise consumer decisions, evaluate quality, and how to save for goals. Youth teams participate in a statewide contest to demonstrate their decision making, verbal justification, and teamwork skills.

Customized Youth and Money Training — Workshops designed for school districts, colleges, agencies, churches, or youth organizations, which may include: teacher trainings, student orientations, staff in-service, parent education programs, and youth day camp development on a variety of resource management topics.
