Building Awareness of Culture & Resources

Resources are the basis for the decisions in families. The way in which the family unit makes decisions is influenced by their culture.

Building Awareness of Culture & Resources is an educational program that was developed to help people expand their capacity and broaden their perceptions of culture and resources. If you (or your organization) assist others with personal, financial and/or community resource use, the materials below help you take a step back and look at the issues.

Instructor Manual (617 K PDF) — This manual provides information for working with groups while using the Building Awareness of Culture & Resources materials found on this website. There are ideas for organizing sessions as well as suggestions for how to use the various products on the CD for different types of groups.

Presentation Materials — The presentation, and presentation manual, helps you present this program to different groups and in different environments.

Topical Presentations with Audio — Nine short, topic-focused versions of the original presentation with an additional audio component.

Video Materials — Eleven video segments and related video guide reinforces cultural differences for Latino(a), Hmong, and Somali groups.

Info Sheets and Handouts — Resources to distribute to participants and others related to culture and resources.
