For Partners

We partner with over two thousand organizations across the state to deliver programs that improve the health of Minnesotans. From the Great Trays Partnership that helped schools put more fruits and vegetables on our children's trays to the Farm to School Leadership Team building Farm to School initiatives, we work with others for the health of all. Contact Health and Nutrition or click on your region on the map below to start making a difference today.

FLAG

(Farmers Legal Action Group)

Farmers' Legal Action Group (FLAG) is a nonprofit law center dedicated to providing legal services and support to family farmers and their communities in order to help keep family farmers on the land.

Executive Director Susan Stokes co-chairs the Land Access work group in the Metro Food Access Network (MFAN), of which Extension is the 'backbone' organization. MFAN began a year and half ago and the work groups developed due to network member feedback. Susan volunteered to lead the Land Access work group, which will be working on affecting policy change to promote land access for small, immigrant, and new farmers in Minnesota.

Susan and her colleagues at FLAG developed the "Preserving Minnesota's Agricultural Land: Proposed Policy Solutions" report. This report recommends a new statewide approach to preserving our state's diminishing agricultural lands to ensure that our state's best farmland is preserved. The state's prime farmland has been developed at a steady rate, with significant negative consequences for the security and stability of our natural resources and food supply. This report has been reviewed by the MFAN Land Access work group and they have committed to using this report as a guide for their policy work.
