Training for Child Care Providers

Are you a child care provider looking for easy, low-cost ideas for whole grain snacks and meals? If so, this free hands-on training is for you! This training counts towards the 3-hour nutrition training requirement for Parent Aware.

Building a Healthy Plate: Cooking with Whole Grains

We offer free face-to-face trainings for child care providers on serving whole grains in their meals and snacks. This 3-hour, hands-on training provides credit towards Parent Aware certification. Topics covered:

Extension is partnering with the Cargill Foundation to offer these trainings in the seven-county metro area throughout the summer, so check back for more dates and locations cut. Space is limited, so sign up today!

Training Dates and Locations

Session Date — English (Weeknight Classes, 6:30-9:30 p.m.)

  • July 22 — Minneapolis, 2021 East Hennepin Avenue Suite 250 (Think Small-Mpls)
  • July 23 — St. Paul, 10 Yorkton Court (Think Small-St. Paul)
  • August 4 — Savage, 6000 McColl Drive (Savage City Hall)

Session Date — English (Saturday Classes, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.)

  • September 13 — St. Paul, 10 Yorkton Court (Think Small-St. Paul)

Session Date — Hmong (Wednesday Class, 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.)

This class will be taught in Hmong.

  • August 13 — St. Paul, 10 Yorkton Court (Think Small-St. Paul)

Session Date — Somali (Wednesday Evening Class, 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.)

This class will be taught in Somali.

  • August 6 — Minneapolis, 2021 East Hennepin Avenue Suite 250 (Think Small-Mpls)

Session Date — Somali (Saturday Class, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.)

This class will be taught in Somali.

  • September 13 — Bloomington, 8900 Portland Ave South (Valley View Middle School)
