Patricia (Trish) Olson has decades of experience as an educator, manager, researcher, and administrator for family and consumer sciences programs in both formal and non-formal settings. She has served in many roles for Extension's Center for Family Development since 2002. Dr. Olson’s research interests include families with limited resources, transnational family economic decisions, and the economic impact of disasters. She has a strong interest and expertise in the intersection of family, work, and poverty.

Dr. Olson earned a Ph.D. in Family Resource Management at Ohio State University. Her dissertation focused on how families use home-based business to rise above the poverty line.
