School Food Programs from Minnesota to Guatemala
In September, Extension Center for Family Development led a delegation of professionals who can influence Guatemala’s school food services on a learning tour around the state. Currently Guatemala does not have a standardized school food system.
Officials also learned about two FD training programs: Workshops for School Foodservice Professionals and Nutrition Building Blocks for Great Trays®. These state and nationally recognized programs for school foodservice professionals help schools implement national standards for including healthier foods in school meals. Through this partnership, we have positively influenced promising school nutrition practices three thousand miles south of Minnesota.
