Keep food safe during a power outage

ST. PAUL, Minn. (3/26/2009) — Floods and ice storms create visible devastation, but it’s not always easy to detect the dangers to your food supply that can occur during these weather emergencies. If spring weather events have caused you to lose power to your home, be aware of these tips from University of Minnesota Extension to keep your family safe from a foodborne illness:

Refrigerator

Freezer

Once the Power is Restored

Do Not Refreeze

Safe to Refreeze
